George and Trixie's Wedding- January 23, 1912

The Wedding
Tuesday, January 23, 1912

Very pretty day.  I came down early and wrote some letters, called Dollie up.  Everybody has something to say about us marrying.  Geo came by a minute.  I went up home at noon and helped around some.  Mama and Lucile had prepared the dinner.  I then bathed and began to dress.  Mrs. Orme came in to see me a minute.  Cecil and Mrs. Gideon. Sutton and Davis and Bro. Williams came.  I looked out and saw Geo coming down the road.  Oh, how I did feel!  I called him in just before we went in.  He said, "Gee, kid!  You are all dressed up!"  We sat on my trunk a minute and he kissed me (their first kiss during their courtship).  Then Bro. Williams tied the knot at 5.  Dad, Stanley and nearly everybody cried.  Byron wouldn't come and see it.  Poor old Dad- I was so worried about him.  Mama was too.  I changed my dress and put on my lavender suit and we started to the train.  Geo stepped on porch with suitcase- a big bunch came up from the glass plant, blowing horns.  They were masked on horses, etc..  They had a little clown cart for us so we crawled right in.

 It's yellowed with age and a little brittle but still beautiful.  I am sure she made it herself.

Trixie's No Cook Strawberry Jam

Trixie- She was always pretty.

Fresh Strawberries- blurry- I know!

Chop them up, add sugar and lemon juice.  Let them sit for about 20 minutes.

Get your fruit pectin ready!  I used 3 Tbs.  I just guessed on this one since it wasn't in a packet.

Dissolve in some water and then bring to a boil for 1 minute.

Add it to the strawberry/sugar/lemon juice mixture and stir well for two minutes.   

Add to a jar or I used a plastic container.  Let it cool for to room temperature.  I wasn't canning mine so after it cooled a bit it went to the fridge.  It made three of these.  One for my Mom, Sister and one for me!
