The Life and Times of Trixie Jones: March 2014

I started to put this on tomorrow morning but decided to go ahead and add it the evening before. Tomorrow, I will add lists of birthday gifts Trixie received in the 1960's. Hope you enjoy reading!

On this day (March 29th) back in 1889, the first baby girl in Amarillo, Texas was born. From all the stories I have heard and letters I have read, she was one of the kindest and most loving ladies around. She truly was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman.

So with that, today's entry is a Happy Birthday tribute to a wonderful lady who positively impacted her family long after she left this Earth. If you are a member of the Gideon extended family, you can thank Trixie for manners, morals or other niceties you may have learned. Many of these things were passed down directly or indirectly because of her. It has been thirty-five years after her passing and she is missed, remembered and loved by all who knew her and many who didn't know her.

Even though many years have come and gone since her birth, she is still remembered so fondly. How many could say that? I think it just shows what a valuable and remarkable life she lived. Trixie Elizabeth Jones-Gideon- a beautiful woman on the inside and out.

From her sister, Lucile and her husband, Ovid. Lucile and Ovid never had children of their own so they were always very close to Trixie and her children.

I think Aunt Pat did this for her boys. She was a sweet daughter-in-law. Trixie loved and got along with all of her children's spouses. As Trixie aged, she wrote a very sweet note saying how she loved her children's spouses just like they were her own. I will add that letter but it will be much later as there are many things to add before we get to that time of her life.

From Mama Jones- Trixie's mother as you know! Mama Jones was quite a remarkable woman. She would have been in her early 90's when she wrote this card.

Another card from a sweet in law. This was Aunt Joan's parents who lived in England. Trixie loved her daughter-in-law Joan. I am sure there is a card from Aunt Joan and Uncle Donnie (the baby of the eight children) but I haven't found it yet. Trixie adored her son and his family.

From her daughter, Marjorie- Third in line in the eight gideon children. I have always thought Aunt Marjorie was so funny.
She has a great sense of humor.

Mrs. Shafer was Trixie's neighbor. They had a long friendship and friendly rivalry- ha! Just joking but they did have a lot in common including children close in age, big families and similar husbands in some regards.
