Monday, January 1
Pretty good trade. Wrote to Ellery and thanked him for the gift. Geo walked to PO and part way home with me at noon. Came down about 3:30 to tell dad and people just poured in for 2 hours. Tickled me. He called me up after supper and said he had to work, invoicing. I was sorry, wanted to go to the rink. Dad went up there with a man and Geo skedaddled down her, as it was New Years and they decided not to work. NO one came in for a little while. Geo broke the news gently to Dad. He said aw- let's talk about the weather. ha! ha! We went to rink- masked affair. Started to dance but didn't. Joe bothered us right after we got home.
Tuesday, January 2
Real cold. Cloudy- no biz at all. Geo invoicing- didn't come down all day. Walked over from PO with him. Closed up real early. Went home and sewed some on apron. I told Mom at noon that Geo and I were going to marry. I told Lucile after she retired. We had quite a chat.
Wednesday, January 3
Cold. Cloudy- trying to snow. Stayed at home till noon and sewed. We got up real late. Geo was in about 2. Trade very good. Mom and Juanita came back with Dad. They are went to the show. Geo came down and stayed with me. He left quite awhile before they came. I thought that show would never turn out.
Thursday, January 4
Still cold. Trade bum. Geo in once or twice. Called up about 7 and wanted to know if I wanted to go skating- ice is fine now. We went to the show instead. Sat on the porch awhile- for once we were not disturbed. Lucile spent the night with Eleanor.
Friday, January 5
Still awful cold. Trying to snow. Lucile came down after school. Dad told her he would give her $5 to sell the rest of the chances on the organ. She got busy and sold 10 chances. Pecks wanted her to play for the show she took them up for $4. She was tickled to death. Geo came down but we didn't go anywhere. Juanita came down with me. Dr. Beeler brought us a box of candy.
Saturday, January 6
Blizzard. Sleeting and snowing. Gas is really low. I came down about 9:30- sewed and read. Geo came down in the afternoon. Dad and I ate chili for dinner. While he was gone to supper, Dr. Beeler was in and we were siting by fire talking as big and in came Geo. Mrs. Compton came in to wait so Geo left. Went home by drug store. Asked him to have dinner with us tomorrow. Awful!!! Cold going home.

George "Stanley" Jones- 52 Ancestors- Week #16
Stanley served in WWI. Upon his return, he lived in Nebraska, Wyoming and settled in Oregon. He was married to Helen (she was a native Nebraskan) and they had one daughter. He was quite the outdoorsman according to photos. He lived the remainder of his life in Oregon where he is buried. I am sure there is a very interesting story behind Stanley but I guess that story may be long gone.

We got up real late after 8:30 and had breakfast. Started to invoice this morning. Not any biz at all. Ruth and Nila were in and went to PO and Carl's. Stanley and Dr. Beeler were here too. Geo was down about 5:30. Lucile came back with Papa from supper. All went by the drug store and got some soap and cream.
Thursday, December 28
Still invoicing. Ruth came in about 11. We went to PO and depot. Got notice of express package. We went back again and got it. Such a pretty toilet set from McNown. Geo came in while we were looking at it. Made me feel bad because he sent me such a nice present. Ruth's friends came about 11:30. We bummed in the afternoon. Geo was down at noon. Said we'd go to Ruth's party. I dressed when I went to Supper. Byron took Lucile and we brought her home. We had a really nice time. Dr, Beeler butted in and came with Lucile. She was mad! Wrote 5 cards.
Friday, December 29
Invoicing still. Geo was in several times. They commented on his building. Lucile and the boys washed. I brought Juanita to town with me and she stayed with Geo most of the day. Bummed with Ruth and the girls. Billy Wilson and Bernice McGarvy. Geo was in after Dad went to supper. We were having quite a chat when in came Lucile. We three went to the show. Began raining. Real muddy when we went home. We went by the rink.
Saturday, December 30
Cloudy. Misting rain. Then froze and tried to sleet and snow. Got colder and colder. No biz at all.
Cleaned up good. Geo was in several times. Lucile came down and we went to the Creamer's hdw sale. Ruth, Nila and I went to PO. Didn't go to supper. Not a soul was in there except Miss Sager. Dad went to show. Geo phoned that he couldn't leave, was sorry for I was here all alone. Started another laundry bag.
Sunday, December 31
Sunshiny but cool. Went to SS but didn't stay for Church. Mr. and Mrs. Strugil came just before Geo did. He wasn't coming back to town with Lucile and Icel. I called him and then we went walking. Then to see Ethel Sutton. I showed him the little house for us. Ha! Lucile had a bunch of kids at home. Four girls stayed all night. Geo came about 7:30. Was going ro surprise them all but kids were already there. We went to church and then sat on the porch awhile. After Edgar passed us at the gate. ha! Then Byron threw out fire crackers and Geo hiked. Awful time.

Saturday, December 16
Ruth and I bummed in a.m. Geo was down rifling off pipe. We took chances. Came from PO with Geo. He was going to bazaar lunch with me but was busy at work. I went up home and helped wash. Wilda, Sutton, Ruth and I bummed all p.m. Lucile and they went to the rink after supper. I stayed here with Dad. Geo called me up and said we would drive tomorrow. Wrote to Ellery.
Sunday, December 17
Went to SS and then Stanley and I came to town and got some things for dinner. Sutton and Davis drove by. Geo came late and we drove. Went to church and we were late- had almost give Geo out. Byron took Eleanor. Got letter from Cara.
Monday, December 18
Busy with Xmas things. Mama is pretty sick. Went home by Carts. Got some fruit. Closed up at 9:30. Wrote to Cara.
Tuesday, December 19
Very muddy. Bummed with Ruth. Began raining about 7:30. We went to Davidson's to practice Xmas song. Lucile stayed all night. I fell down going home. Took half and half.
Wednesday, December 20
Felt bad but got up and got breakfast. Didn't do anything else. Was going to stay with Mama. She was feeling real bad. Dad got a call and I had to go to town. Brought Juanita. Real cold. Geo was in about 5:30. He's real busy now with Xmas goods.
Thursday, December 21
Woke up at 2:30. Felt awfully bad. Took some medicine. Busy making a few little things. Went in and used Mrs. Snider's machine. Party at Strugil's for kids. Began snowing about 7. Closed up early. Snow was sure pretty. Kids didn't come until late.
Friday, December 22
Same thing. Little busy. Ruth here. We bummed in drug store once or twice. Snowing and so muddy. Geo was in while Dad went to supper. Mrs. Gowland came and said she was sorry to bother us. ha! Sent a few little things away. Lucile and I went to Davidson's. to practice song. Rode with old Fred Hare- awful muddy. Had lots of fun. Sang, ate candy and played games.
Saturday, December 23
Went to drug store and Hamrick's early. Got a few things. Quite busy. Dad was home all day with Mama. Dr. Colley was over too. Ruth was down and helped when we were rushed. Felt kinda bad and blue. Ate chili and pie at Gardner's. Went up home and dressed about 5. Rushed when I came back. Davis was in after the $15 locket he bought. A man was in to buy the $12.50 one. Dr. Beeler and Geo were in and Mrs. Davidson. Geo said he would try to get off at 7:30. I waited and waited. Dad was about to take me when he came. Awful muddy. Big crowd and had to stand up. Of course, old Claridy was there roasting . Juanita came right to us. I got there too late to help with the program. Lucile got a box of stationary and I a toilet set from Geo. Every other name that was called was "Jones" I had lots of fun over it with Geo. Geo had his pockets full of things that Juanita got and so on. He asked me to go to Ramona with him on Monday to his family.

Went to SS and church. Played and made out report. Bro. Lamb preached. Drove to town with Baldy Orme. Ruth and Nila got in Buford wouldn't ride. Took girls home. Had to bring Ruth back after butter and so on. She took box into Geo. Dad had dinner ready when we got back. After dinner, I scrubbed and cleaned up. Took a nap. Mrs, Musser came. Lucile and I were lying around. Nila, Icel and Eleanor came. We all came to town. Mama thought it was awful for me to want to go to Ramona. I got Papa down here and put up a little spiel and he said I could go. Byron, Lucile and I drove back to town and got Santa Claus junk for Juanita. They and Eleanor were going to church. Thought there was to be a tree at Lombards. Rushed off to see it. Mama better. Geo came out about 7:30. We went to church. I played. Mr. Williams preached. Lucile and I filled the stockings.
Monday, December 25
Cloudy and misty. Got up early. Got breakfast. Dressed two chickens then got ready to go to Ramona. Geo was coming at 9 but it was nearly 10:30 and I had almost given him out. Was ready to go to town. Enjoyed the drive but was pretty cold. When we arrived, I met his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Had a dandy time. Cecil, Martha and I walked around. Went to dress makers twice with her. It began to rain about 4. We didn't leave until 5. Rained all the way home. Didn't get wet or cold either. We had quite a chat about the letters and so on (Ellery). Gave him a Xmas present. why?
Afraid Mama and Dad wouldn't like it since we got home after dark but couldn't help it. Got here at 7 and they didn't say much about the hour. Ate a little and then retired early. Was tired and sleepy but as happy as could be.

Got up late. Got breakfast then sat around and started to get ready to go to town. Mama said I was a lady of leisure and so on. Of course I boo-hooed. Came to the store and Dad wanted to know what was the matter, so I took another big cry. Nothing doing at all today. Wrote 3 cards and in diary. Dr. Beeler was in. Trying to snow. Pretty and cool. Ewing's party is tonight. I called Geo up and told him I wanted to see him a minute. He came and we decided to go to the party. Went about 8:15. Big bunch of kids. We left first. Awfully cold. Ground frozen as hard as a rock. Wrote to Ellery while Dad was at supper. I had a hard time writing it but knew it was my duty to do so. Sutton, Ruth and I went to the Dentist.
