After the diary of 1909 ended, Trixie was thinking of making a career change. The school she was teaching in had a large class size. She was teaching boys almost as old as her (Remember Reginald) who didn't behave very well. After that school year, she ended up moving to Grainola, Oklahoma with her family. I have always been told Papa Jones had quite a case of wanderlust and moved from oil boom town to oil boom town to set up emergency hospitals. He would stay in each town until the oil boom began to drop off and then would move to the next up and coming location.
Grainola is in Osage County on the Oklahoma/Kansas border. The town was formed in 1910. In that year, Trixie taught the first class in Grainola. In this class, she taught her two brothers, Byron and Edgar. She taught there a year and then the family moved to Avant, Oklahoma. There isn't a diary from Grainola but I did find several photos. Back in that time, the town had about 500 people. Now, sadly it is pretty much a ghost town with a population of 12. Please click the link at the very bottom for a look at Grainola today.
