Saturday, July 15
Went to the store as usual. Very good trade. (this was Papa Jones' store. he usually owned a store besides being a physician). Curly came out and played tennis and stayed quite awhile. Aunt Lulu and I walked to town after supper. (Poor Aunt Lulu- I bet she was really at a sad time in her life.)

Monday, July 16

Lucile, Juanita and I went to SS and Aunt Lulu came to church. I thot they wanted me to play but Mrs. West played. Was so sleepy. Lay down in the afternoon and snoozed a bit. Mr. Moore came out a bit. We were going Kodaking but didn't get to go as film did not come. Had lots of fun. He is so funny. Looked for Ray but he didn't come until 6. We played tennis. Aunt Lulu was the only one who would go to church with me. Curly was still there when we got back. We talked awhile. Looked for a letter at 1:45 but nix!
Monday, July 17
They washed. Came to the store. Got a letter.
Tuesday, July 18
Lucile and Aunt Lulu ironed. I came to store and wrote to Ellery. Felt a little blue. Got a card from Dollie and she said she was coming on the 5:00 train. Ruth Lackey was in. She came- we went back home and got some things. Then we came back and went to the show. Then we started home and Stanley wanted us to go over to the dance. Dollie met Dr. Beeler and Ray. Byron better.

Wednesday, July 19
Dollie came to town with me. Aunt Lulu got a message. I had to go to PO after her mail and then take it back to her. Then Dollie and I started to the girls picnic. We were tired and hot. Mr. McCoy and some men were on hand car and asked us to ride so we took them up. Had lots of fun about it. Found girls okay. Had a nice lunch- made cream and lemonade. Got rained on and went wading.
Dollie and I came home early. Mr. Moore came up and we played tennis until a storm came up. It began to rain and just poured. Didn't get to go to the show. We played and sang instead. 8:50 train pulled out and came to bridge just below our house and wrecked. Edgar saw it and told us. We became so excited- hunting old shoes, dresses and so on so we could go. Was pouring down. We waded water that was knee deep. Dark as pitch. Big crowd there. Part of bridge washed out. Once coach in water. Two barely hanging. Stream up and roaring. Some people up on top of the coach. One in the water and it seemed as if there was no way to save him. Sure looked scary. We girls came home first. We looked like drowned rats. Then Papa and the boys came. We cooked some eggs and made some coffee and had a midnight lunch.

Got up early and went to wreck. Mud and water everywhere. We went back home and ate breakfast. Then we went back. Then we went to town. Dollie phoned her friend and found out she didn't have to go back until Friday. No business much. We went to the wreck forty times. Took some pictures. About 6 o'clock, Dollie, Lucile and I were sitting here eating some ice cream cones (might have been at the drug store) when two men began to fight. Then another and then in about 30 minutes- another! Then a dog fight. Gee! We were scared and excited. Ice cream cones flew in every direction. Curly wanted Lucile to go to the dance with him but we went home rather early. Very muddy.

Friday, July 21
Came to town. Got 8 o'clock mail. Got pictures and letter from Ellery. Sure was glad. Dr, Beeler, Hare, Curly were in. I showed them the pictures. Went by Mary's also. Dollie came down about noon. Curly was in here. Worked on quilt block. Sure hot. Sat out front. Ray came out and talked to me. The girls came down. We went to the show and then the dance. Dr. Beeler went with us. Curly and he came home with us. Dollie and Dr. B walked in a big mud puddle. After we got home, we were planning for our big picnic Sunday and having lots of fun when one of the boys said he heard Dad (Dr. EA Jones) clear his throat. They hiked out pretty soon. Then we kids tore around for 20 minutes in the kitchen. We always have to eat when we get home.
